- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¾ cup warm water
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Coarse salt (for topping)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine sourdough discard, flour, sugar, salt, and warm water. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Divide the dough into small portions and roll into ropes. Cut into bite-sized pieces.
- In a pot of boiling water, add baking soda. Drop pretzel bites in batches and boil for 20-30 seconds. Remove and place on the baking sheet.
- Brush with egg wash and sprinkle coarse salt on top.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Brush with melted butter while warm. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
