Ingredients

  • 5 apples (any kind), sliced
  • 1 heaping tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 lemon (juice & zest)
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup honey
  • ½ cup oil
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a cast-iron skillet with 🧈 butter.
  2. In a bowl, toss 🍏 apple slices with 🍋 lemon juice, 🍯 honey, and 🌿 cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk 🥚 eggs, 🏺 oil, and sourdough discard until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, mix 🌾 flour, 🍰 baking powder, and 🧂 salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Fold in half of the 🍏 apple mixture, then pour the batter into the skillet. Arrange the remaining apples on top.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
